EAT THE PASTE

The Piss Tape

Somtime in 1996, some friends got together who had no real idea how to play their instruments, sing, or even keep rhythm. They formed a noise band called Eat The Paste. What they lacked in skill, they made up for in grit and glory. They used not drumkits, but wooden spoons upon pots, pans and even cereal boxes. Chords? No. We had feedback. This is our story.

The Office Sessions

In April of 1999 Russ, Nick, Jeff and I gathered in Nick and Jeff's place of employment. We smoked weed and played music.

The Stage Sessions

On January 22nd 2000, three out of the four members of Eat the Paste got together in the Corte Madera Recreation Center for a bit of a jam session. This being our first time performing on an actual stage, among other things, made it a memorable experience. And though we sorely missed our percussionist Jeff, I think we did well under an unexpected pressure. All three of us managed to play a couple of songs in front of a group of five lovely ladies, and I even managed to whisper out a couple of lyrics. It was a proud moment, demonstrated by the big ass smile I saw on Nick's face when I looked up from my geeetar. Though, apparently our fans were too cool to throw their underwear at us. Next time, Russell. Next time...

Most of the four hour session was recorded with a hand held recording device on two ninety minute tapes (apparently we missed an hour in there somewhere). All in full, rich, Mono. In other words, sound quality is not great, not good, perhaps even "sub-terrainian". Songs are presented chronologically in order to maintain a feel for the progress of the evening. Enjoy!

P.S. Pictures of the event will be appearing soon. Hey look! There they are!

Bobby Brown Sessions

On February 26th, 2000 our fine fellowship gathered in a garage, and jammed on some shit. I layed down on my back while Nick and Russ pranced around on top of me. The following is the result of such activities. Again, we recorded with the same shitty hand held recorder. One of these days we'll use a 4-track. Weeee! The session was recorded on one 90 minute tape and half of Bobby Brown's "Don't be Cruel" album. Welcome to the Bobby Brown Sessions.

Forever your Girl

At long last we have some recordings with drums. Jeff is a natural drummer, knowing when and where to place the most beautiful of percussive vibrations. This was my first time EVER playing with a drummer, let alone one from OUR band. Sweet! Words cannot explain. Unfortunately we were once again one man short. Our lead geeetarist was abscent, having ventured east. He'll regret it. :) The quality of the recordings was imporved this time with a change of mic positioning and amp arrangement. This session was recorded on a Taylor Dayne tape, Ghostbusters II tape, and Paula Abdul's 'Forever your Girl'. Enjoy.

Tether Ball Sessions

On May 21st 2000, half of Eat the Paste was united. Russell and I looked from up on high, unto the beauty of acoustic instruments. It was a hot, sweaty day... 97 degrees of pure pleasure. The session was fueled by tequila and hacky sack. We even layed down a couple songs on the 4-track (4T), just for the hell of it. The rest is history. I present to you... the tether ball sessions:
